Areas of employment

There is an enormous range of services that you can work in as a worker in Care and/or Support Services.  These services often provide very substantial amounts of care and support, sometimes on a residential basis, sometimes in people’s own homes, sometimes in a day care service.  The categorisation of service set out here uses the Care Commission’s categories.  National Care Standards have been set for each of these categories setting out what a service user can expect from the service.  It is up to you, the worker, to ensure that the service is provided in a warm, friendly way and that the person’s worth and dignity are respected.  You can make a tremendous difference to people’s lives by the way you do your job.
