A career in Care and Support Services

Care and support services aim to improve the quality of people’s lives.  They can involve you in working in a variety of social services settings including care homes, day care facilities, people’s own homes, and on social work teams. 

This Career Pathways Toolkit has been designed for all who are interested in working in Care and support services and provides information and guidance on

• Different work areas care and support services

• Career pathways for those already in employment in care and support services to plan a career within the sector

• Career pathways for those who are still at school and who would like to follow a career in care and support services

• Career pathways for those who have no previous experience within the sector who would like to change career or return to work in care and support services

• Continuous learning and Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL), to assist those already in employment to plan training which will enhance their knowledge and skills required for their current role.
